Lonardo's Tausasi sees a maceration on the skins for 20-25 days. It is then aged for 12 months in tank followed by 12-18 months in 600-liter tonneaux, of which about 30% are new. It is then bottled without fining or filtration and aged in bottle for several more years before release.
The wine displays classic Aglianico aromas that make people call it the "Barolo of the South", including tar, licorice, dark cherry and graphite. The wine is full-bodied with an ample tannic backbone to stand up to big, intensely-flavored dishes. We recommend decanting the wine for several hours before serving.
