Wine label
Bottle sizes:750 ML
Varietal notes:Verdelho
Aging:50 year old wine on average at time of bottling.
Tasting:Located in the extreme northwest corner of the Island of Madeira, Porto Moniz is legendary for its wines, particularly those produced from steep terraced vineyards in Ribeira da Janela. This part of the island, where the north coast meets the south, produced many great wines, bearing names like Porto Moniz and Ponta do Pargo. The old Malvasia in this bottle is a superb example of this noble legacy. Bottled in September 2011, just 300 bottles of this old Porto Moniz Malvasia were produced.

Bright amber. Pungent, captivating aromas of lemongrass, anise, chalk dust, honey, burnt sugar, garlic chives and orange peel, plus a hint of potpourri. Extremely dry and incisive on the palate, offering salty, herb-accented citrus and redcurrant flavors and a strong, numbing note of white pepper. You could perform oral surgery on yourself after a shot of this, and I mean that in a good way. Uncompromisingly dry and focused, with spice, sea salt and floral qualities that don't let up on the very long aftertaste.
