Bottle sizes:750 ML
Country:France
Region:Roussillon
Appellation:Cotes Catalanes
Type:Red
Varietals:Red Blend
Varietal notes:Grenache, Carignan, Syrah & Mourvedre
Vineyard:"Sourced from vineyards around the Orin Swift winery in Maury, France. The small town of Maury is in the outer Roussillon very close to the Spanish border and nestled in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Many vines are 60+ years in age."
Soil:The terrain is dominated by black schist with a couple small deposits of Granite and Limestone in red rocky soils known as Angile. The schist is a crystalline rock based soil that retains heat well but is poor in organic nutrients and nitrogens.
Aging:Aged in French Oak, 30% new for 18 months. Bottle aged 5 months prior to release
Tasting:The wine has a profound cardinal hue with powerful aromas of rhubarb compote, savory roasted plum, star anise and leather. Opening with potent flavors of cola, dark fruits, raspberry jam and baking chocolate, it transitions to offer beguiling flavors of forest floor, fennel, and earthy Asian spices. With a purposeful finish, the wine closes with shards of acidity and lengthy polished tannins.
