Vineyard:Their cabernet vineyards are located in the villages of Pedriel and Agrelo in Lujan de Cuyo. The fruit mostly coming from Owens and Lorens vineyards
Orientation:On average around 3,100 feet in elevation
Soil:Alluvial soils rich in limestone
Viticulture:ungrafted vines, hand harvested.
Vinification:Destemmed grapes and natural yeasts are used for the fermentation.
Aging:The wine ages in a combination of concrete, tank and French oak for 9 months. Depending on the vintage only about 80% sees wood aging. Of the oak used at most 15-20% is new.
Production:300 cases imported
Tasting:The team at Casarena is known locally as "the punks of Lujan" because of their nonconformist trailblazing style. They are primarily focused on Cabernet and the micro terroirs of Lujan de Cuyo both not the "new" thing in Mendoza.
