Vineyard:Sourced from their best vineyards within their property - at the southeast corner of Castelnuovo Berardenga.
Orientation:Altitude approximately 300m in elevation.
Soil:Alluvial soil with pebbles and a mixture of lime, clay and sand.
Viticulture:Hand harvested between the second half of September and early October.
Vinification:Natural fermentation with native yeast in stainless steel tanks for 12-14 days.
Aging:Aged in large Slavonian oak for 24 to 36 months.
Tasting:The Castell'in Villa wines are always released a year to two years after most of their peers. They are one of the oldest estates and have wines in their cellar dating back to 1971.

Intense sangiovese, this is firm and black yet refined and ultimately gentle in its power. It's built for the future, a brick of mineral tannin with a hint of floral cherries and plenty of oak toast. More approachable with air, the lushness of the fruit in 2000 places it with roast game birds.
