Vineyard:Sourced from vineyards above the Ombrone River up to the Poggiolo vineyard.
Orientation:South, southwest at 370m in elevation.
Soil:Stratified sand and alluvial pebbles.
Viticulture:Hand-harvested. The vineyard source for this wine was grafted over with Chardonnay clones from Burgundy in the early 1980's. First vintage was 1987.
Vinification:Whole-cluster pressing, yielding about 60% free-run must, which is then cold-settled and racked. Fermentation is started, then must goes to small barrels to ferment and mature sur lie. Racked and blended in March-June, and bottled in July.
Aging:Six to eight months in small barrels.
Tasting:This wine is named (I Sistri) after an ancient instrument from ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. The instrument and its music was dedicated to the worship of Isis, the godess of agriculture and birth.

Here is a chardonnay with all the works from lees stir to new wood. And it pulls it off with cooked apple, caramel, lemon and light vanilla flavors. Intense and flavorful. Drink now.
