Vineyard:This is a "neo cooperative" where the typical incentives to growers are turned around. Peter pays his growers for fruit based on how they are improving viticulture and practicing biodynamics. His team helps provide the preps and guidance to growers that want to move in the direction of biodynamics. The growers they work with are a hand selected group of those with the oldest and most prized vineyards.
Orientation:Various. Average elevation is 750 meters.
Soil:Various. Calcarious, clay and sand.
Viticulture:The incentives to the growers are towards organics and biodynamics.
Vinification:The goal for the winemaking is to seek the "soul" of Ribera. So there are long slow and gentle macerations. The elevage is relaxed in a combination of cement and large oak with no new wood. Fermentation takes place with wild yeast.
Aging:18 months in a combination of cement, large oak vats and small used barrels.
Tasting:PSI is the 23rd letter in the Greek alphabet and is the name of Peter Sisseck's (of the coveted Pingus and Flor de Pingus) utopian wine from Ribera del Duero. Peter has sought out the best independent vineyard growers in Ribera and is incentivizing them to improve viticultural practices and shun chemicals, lower yields and practice biodynamics by paying them increasingly for the fruit as they improve. The result is a "give back" to the region wine that also expresses the "soul" of Ribera.


IWC: 94 (Suckling)
This is a fragrant and gritty Pingus with a ton of tannins which give it a lot of depth and length. This wine deserves some patience. It needs two or three years more of bottle age to be at its best, but should keep for some years following. - Suckling
