Wine label
Bottle sizes:750 ML
Varietals:White Blend
Varietal notes:75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay
Vineyard:100% estate-fruit from Ambonnay, one of the largest Grand Cru villages.
Orientation:Vineyards in Ambonnay face due south, producing a warmer microclimate for the grapes.
Soil:This area consists of pure Belemnite chalk originating from Bouzy and continuing throughout most of Champagne. This unique soil allows the vines to root deeply, retaining the ideal amount of moisture while allowing the excess to drain away thoroughly
Viticulture:The Coutiers practice "lutte raisonnée", a method of viticulture which encourages biodiversity and soil health. Coutier ploughs, uses no herbicides and grows grass between rows.
Vinification:This wine is vinified in stainless steel, and undergoes partial malolactic fermentation to retain freshness.
Aging:Aged for a minimum of three years in bottle sur lie.
Production:Limited, only produces in top vintages.
Tasting:From the lauded 2008 vintage comes this golden hued vintage Champagne made from 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, nearly the exact breakdown of Coutier plantings. Lightly toasted with complex aromas of yellow fruit and palate that is both rich and taut. Round and fresh on the finish. 6 gr/l dosage Disgorgement: May 2017

The 2008 Brut Grand Cru is very typical of the wines of Ambonnay in both its flavor structure and texture. Candied apricot, mint, honey, smoke, dried flowers and red berry notes infuse this powerful, ample Champagne. As is often the case, the vintage Champagne at Coutier is a bit rustic, but it is quite pleasant in its own way. Give it a few years to unwind. Disgorged: May 2017. Dosage is 6 grams per liter.
