Varietal notes: Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Negrette, Carignan, Grenache, Trousseau Noir
Vineyard: The section of Nervo Ranch used for this bottling was planted in 1896 on 30% slopes of decomposed shale
Soil: decomposed shale
Viticulture: farmed using organic methods
Vinification: fermented using all native yeasts
Aging: aged in neutral, French oak barrles
Notes: A field blend dominated by Zinfandel but co-fermented with Petite Sirah, Negrette, Carignan, Grenache, Trousseau Noir and many others. A weighty and elegant wine that will do well with time in the cellar or decanter to allow it to unfold.
The 2015 Nervo Ranch Heritage, from a site in Alexander Valley planted in 1936, is quite powerful and savory in style. Sweet tobacco, herbs, menthol, licorice and black pepper are some of the many notes that give the Nervo its distinctive personality.
