Mourvedre, Grenache and Carignan
The base of wine is composed around the ancient plantings of Mourvedre at Bedrock Vineyard and Pagani Ranch, the rest of the blend is composed of dry-farmed Grenache planted in the 1880’s at Gibson Ranch in McDowell Valley and Carignane from the 1950’s planted on soils that remind me of Pauillac in Ukiah.

The grapes were harvested at relatively low sugars to maintain freshness.

Made from 75% Mourvèdre and 25% Grenache, the 2017 Ode to Lulu Old Vine Rosé is very pale-salmon pink in color with delicate Bing cherries, raspberry leaves and red currants scents with hints of red apples and white pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely spicy sparks throughout the red berries flavors, with great freshness and a peppery finish.
Vivid pale orange-pink. Expressive scents of fresh red berries, orange pith, pungent flowers and chalky minerals show excellent focus and lift. Fine-grained and nervy in the mouth, offering zesty red currant, strawberry and blood orange flavors and a spicy jolt of white pepper on the back half. The floral note sneaks back in steadily on a silky, persistent, mineral-driven finish.
