Vineyard: Calera's Central Coast wines are made from grapes grown by selected vineyards in California's Central Coast viticultural area. These include the Scheid, Laetitia, Zabala and Doctor's Vineyards.
Soil: Primarily sandy, silt and clay soils
Viticulture: The grapes for the Central Coast Pinot Noir were hand harvested. Some of the sites employ organic vilticulture.
Vinification: All lots were fermented with native yeasts in small, open top fermenters.
Aging: Aged without racking in mostly Francois Freres barrels, 10% new, for eleven months.
A ripe, fruity and expressive nose combines notes of plum, various dark berries and a hint of spice. While there is an attractive texture to the rounded and succulent flavors, the finish is somewhat fruit-driven and simple. To enjoy young.
