Nuits Saint Georges
From the 1er Cru vineyard Aux Vignerondes located at the northern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Eastern-facing, benefits from morning sun.
Stony and gravelly soils of comblanchien limestone with some oyster shells.
Vineyards have never seen herbicides or pesticides. Regular ploughing, fruit is hand harvested.
Whole cluster fermentation, long cuvaison of 2-3 weeks.
Extended barrel ageing up to two years, 10-20% new oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Medium red. Aromas of plum and licorice are a bit deeper-pitched and less precise than Confuron's premier crus from Gevrey-Chambertin. Creamy, dry and classic in the mouth, showing excellent ripeness and breadth. Tightens up on the finish, showing a rather clenched mineral character and serious, youthfully dry tannins.
