Vineyard: From the 1er Cru vineyard Aux Vignerondes located at the northern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Orientation: Eastern-facing, benefits from morning sun.
Soil: Stony and gravelly soils of comblanchien limestone with some oyster shells.
Viticulture: Vineyards have never seen herbicides or pesticides. Regular ploughing, fruit is hand harvested.
Vinification: Whole cluster fermentation, long cuvaison of 2-3 weeks.
Aging: Extended barrel ageing up to two years, 10-20% new oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Medium red. Aromas of plum and licorice are a bit deeper-pitched and less precise than Confuron's premier crus from Gevrey-Chambertin. Creamy, dry and classic in the mouth, showing excellent ripeness and breadth. Tightens up on the finish, showing a rather clenched mineral character and serious, youthfully dry tannins.
