Isabelle & Denis Pommier
Beauroy is a Premier Cru-classified climat of Chablis, located just to the north-west of the village of Chablis, within the communes of Poinchy and Beine. The slopes of this vineyard are relatively shallow. The Beauroy climat comprises the Beauroy, Cote de Savant and Troesmes sub-climats, which are themselves made up of several named vineyards. Pommier's Beauroy is sourced from the Troesmes sub-climat.
Kimmeridgien - limestone and white clay, shallow topsoil
AgriBio certified since 2010. Farms organically and manually works the soils. Grapes are harvested in small cases of 15 kg and are immediately pressed.
Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in 50% tank and 50% neutral barrels of varying age.
Blended wines are aged on the lees for 18 months in combination of 2/3 tank and 1/3 oak.
The 2016 Chablis Troesmes 1er Cru has a pretty and well defined bouquet with scents of flint, white flowers and a touch of orange pith. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity, discrete tropical notes such as white peach and passion fruit that do not obstruct the mineral core to flourish on the finish. Denis Pommier has made an excellent Chablis from one of its lesser-known Premier Crus. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting.
