Aglianico Del Vulture
Grapes are sourced from the Vernava vineyard.
Hand harvested at the beginning of October. 25 year old vines. Certified organic.
Fermented in stainless steel. The yeast used is a yeast selected from the Vernava vineyard - selected in 2009. A pied de cuvee is made and then used to start the fermentation.
Aged six months in concrete and then two months in the bottle. The wine is not fined but it is passed through a large-grained filter to filter out any exceptionally large particulates.
Moderately saturated ruby. Vibrant red currant and violet aromas, plus hints of allspice and minerals. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering tangy midweight red fruit flavors and a touch of cocoa. Finishes clean and with very good persistence, if a little simply.
