This 5th generation estate is run by Françoise Roumieux, along with her sister Béatrice, and brother Didier. Their family estate is comprised of 40 separate parcels scattered throughout the appellation. The largest pieces are located in the south of the appellation and the northeastern sub-zone of “La Crau.” The diversity of soils and terroirs gives them the opportunity to blend and create a “best of vintage” offering for each of their three Châteauneuf cuvées. We will be working with their entry-level, “Clos du Calvaire” and their old-vines called, “La Crau de Ma Mère”, both starting with the 2007 vintage.
Robert Parker recently described the wines: “These consistently reliable Chateauneuf du Papes are always representative of Provence, and are made in a rich, earthy, peppery, fruity style with plenty of body as well as Chateauneuf du Pape typicity. Not generally wines to lay away, rather, they are to consume during their first 10-12 years of life, with the only exception being certain vintages of the top cuvée, La Crau de Ma Mère.”
