Torracina

Sicily, Italy

At a Glance
  • Bold and rich Nero d’Avola made with partially dried grapes
  • A great value alternative to Ripasso Valpolicella or Amarone

Torracina is a wine made for us by the Botter winery, who makes many of our private label wines.  Think juicy Nero d’Avola meets powerful amarone! The grapes are sourced from some of their best ventilated, higher elevation sites for Nero d’Avola which can produce the perfectly healthy grapes needed for the ensuing drying process. The grapes are dried for fifteen days after which fermentation is in stainless steel and then aging in a mix of steel and new and used oak. "Rracina" is Sicilian dialect for a grape. This is a powerful little wine for the price!
