The 2015 Chablis Croix Aux Moines comes from 50-year-old vines and is aged 70% in stainless steel and 30% used barrel for 12 months, then kept on the fine lees for another three months. It has a brisk, stony bouquet that is very poised and focused, quite sophisticated for a mere village cru. The palate is well balanced with fresh acidity, quite vibrant and sappy, with a touch of reduction that works well on the finish. This has plenty of personality, and I am intrigued to see how it will age in bottle.

A softly wooded and clearly ripe nose features notes of green fruit that possesses background nuances of mineral reduction, iodine and seashell. There is excellent mid-palate concentration to the opulent, round and sappy medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the relatively dry finish in the context of what is typical for the 2015 vintage. Worth a look.
