The inspiration for Time Place Wine Co. is that wine is a perfect reflection of time and place, the culmination of climate and season, site, and study. Winemaker Jamey Whetstone’s extensive understanding of California’s best wine growing regions, and the connections he’s made in his 26 years in the vines, comes a collection of wines that best represent each region. The wines aim to bring the beauty and complexity of each individual growing region to the bottle and to your table and offer true representation of what Napa, Monterey, and Santa Barbara have to offer. You should expect consistency and quality from our wines. The hope is that they provide meaningful, shared time & place moments.
Jamey Whetstone moved out to Napa Valley from his home in South Carolina to manage Mustards Grill in 1996. Simply captivated by the community, lifestyle and culture of wine country, he found himself quickly growing roots. By 1998, he had begun his winemaking education at Turley Wine Cellars where he would remain in his apprenticeship until 2005. During that time, he spent a summer sabbatical working for the Seysses Family at Domaine Dujac in Morey-Saint-Denis and laid the groundwork for Whetstone Wine Cellars in 2002.
The Time Place Wine Co. works within California’s top AVA’s and includes Chardonnay from Monterey, Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara, and Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Jamey’s winemaking style is one that accentuates the characteristics of each place, but with a deft hand and judicious use of oak so as to allow the vineyard to shine through.
The label art for the Time Place wines is by John Duckworth of John’s Island, SC. The works are photos that capture a specific time, place, and moment of nature in the Low Country of South Carolina.
